For well established companies and non-profit organizations, we have various solutions to implement.

General requirements:

• Applicants should be recognized trading or non-profit organizations
• For non incorporated or non registered trading entities (Sol Traders, Home businesses, Self employed.), the site should have at least 1000 unique visitors daily and has been live for at least 6 months.
• Sites should meet the Wi-Fi Technology Forum's Terms of use
• Sites should be technology themed sites or relevant enough for the purpose of implementing their own Wi-Fi Directory
• An annual nominal licensing fee payable in advance

The Solution:

• We provide our Single CPU, Dual or Quad Xeon Servers
• We provide the sub domain yourname.wi-fidirectory.com, we accept your own domain but has to be hosted on our server
• We provide hosting, maintenance of the database and all administration
• We provide the scripts necessary to power the directory and your own database
• we provide a web based email account with your own 1 Gig capacity email box through an  admin panel with SpamAssassin and Spam box 
• We provide support by email and telephone for emergency
• your own logo, banners, header, footer and left navigation
• Your site and database is not linked to other partner databases, although initially the directory will have the database you start-up with, you or your visitors are free to add other hotspots to your own directory.  If you start with 40,000 hotspots that we upload initially, and acquire another 20,000 from some new provider, you'll probably have 20,000 more than other partners.
• We deal with your visitors queries.

How does it work?

The whole process can take up 1 week!

• You apply with your site details

• If we approve you, you receive an email saying so and how to pay the nominal fee (paypal preferred, but wire transfer, cheques / checks and postal orders accepted), the nominal fee is to serve as an ID statement.

• You send three text files containing your header, footer, left navigation and your logo to the specification we recommend , 2 different specs banners are allowed also. one in the header, one in the navigation.

• We'll set up the site, create a database and upload records, upload scripts and do all admin work

• We'll test the site and send you your SuperAdmin name and password to manage the site

• The site goes live once you are happy

• You put a link on your main site's navigation for visitors to the new site

What's in it for me or my company?

• Visitors of your wi-fi hotspots directory are very likely to have such profile as being mobile people, seasoned and accustomed to mobile technology, electronic and computing buyers, technology and telecommunications buyers, as well as workers and readers. In addition, they are likely to be short and long distance travelers, sales reps and marketing people, mobile electronics addicts...They are very likely to buy your product or service or subscribe to your documentation or read your news or magazine..!

• You don't have to devote a whole army of people like we do to maintain, administer and promote the directory

•  We meet the cost of advertising the directory, not you

• A link to your site from the master site www.wi-fidirectory.com with your logo, we do not link to your directory but to your site. That way all of the links are to your main site, there will also be 10-12 other links to other partners sites. Although partners will have their own directory, they are likely to have different products and services. If a visitors is interested in setting up a hotspot and you provide that service, he/she will come to your site. If interested in subscribing to a Wi-Fi news or read telecommunications magazine, the same goes. This way, our partners will receive qualified visitors. In the event of a directly competing partner, you'll share the visitors, or at least the most known brand will receive the most.

• You increase you link popularity with major search engines with a well themed content site that meets their terms of use (TOS), if the directory contains 250,000 hotspots, 250,000 potential links to your site, products and services, hence boosting your site's importance and rank.

What's in it for the Wi-Fi Technology Forum (Wi-Fi-TF)?

• We want to make sure the Wi-Fi Directory is the number 1 Open directory for free and commercial hotspots worldwide

• We operate on non-profitability, hence our only source of income is one or two advertiser's banners that we insert in each hotspot. The revenue is to help meet promotion, advertising, bonuses for our volunteer editors, as well as general hosting and operational costs.

• The Wi-Fi-TF aim is to lobby for cheaper wi-fi Internet access and prices worldwide, the stronger we grow, the more large companies, governmental regulators and trade organizations that will listen. Licensing its directory to a small number but  well known sites will in turn boost its strength, look at dmoz! 

FAQ and terms of use:

Can I access the site through FTP or have my own FTP account?

Yes,  you can if you request to do so, but thereafter all the FTP admin is your responsibility.  Some may prefer this to upload scripts to the cgi-bin for example to run other application in Perl, or just need to have complete control, we are flexible.

Can I have full access to an admin panel to administer the site including Mysql?

At our discretion, we may allow some with either full or restricted database grant privileges. It all depends on your credibility and who you represent as an organization.

What is my company's  or my legal position? 

You have a restricted license to the hotspots directory records. Restrictions include:

- Distribution: No distribution of database records, scripts or any form of data that originates in the directory outside the site hosting the directory. 

- Exporting: Database exporting is not allowed, that is saving the database to your machine as a mean of back-up, we do full site and database back-ups daily.

- Communicating by email to directory site members should be done the proper non-Spam way.

- No liability for damage or misuse shall the Wi-Fi-TF be held responsible for.

- You agree that you are joining as a partner and abide also by the  Wi-Fi-TF network terms of use.

- You agree that we can discontinue, shut the site down, disable the site or account, delete records and account should we see strong evidence of misuse or breach of our TOS or for any reason we feel justifiable. Fees paid in advance are non-refundable.

- You agree that the site and its domain and content, (excluding the domain name if you provided your own) shall be the property of the Wi-Fi-TF and you are only licensed to use it as an added value to your own site on a renewable annual subscription (nominal fee above or one that will be communicated to you as and when changed).

-  Disclosing or passing SuperAdmin privileges to other person/s has to be approved first, failure to do so will invalidate the partnership agreement.
