- I installed the Toolbar, but can't see it!

It's probably hidden because of your browser's configuration, right click on your mouse on top of your browser menu, and have a look at what is enabled or disabled, you'll see it there. Tick or un-tick your toolbar and open a new browser window. Try and open a complete new browser window.

- Can I distribute the toolbar?

Yes, you can distribute it free as long as it is done in an acceptable way. If you are after a partnership whereby you or your company has a product or service of value to your audience and think of distributing the toolbar with your own "Appeals" banner or message, you can contact toolbar@wi-fihotspotsdirectory.com for more information. Please note that purely commercial* sites or companies will be declined.  Candidate Organizations are those involved in non-profit activities (predominately non-profit with a small revenue for expenses and operation is acceptable),  or are charitable organizations themselves, or with a proven track record of working with charities and fund raising.

* Excludes commercial organizations with link to charities or have a proof of substantial charity donations (for example in their annual reports, news releases from known news networks...)

To distribute the toolbar/s, just download the .exe file and upload it to a directory on your server space, link to it on your site for people to download from your site/server.

- Is the Toolbar capable of displaying PageRank™ or site popularity for SEO purposes?

The above features are copyright of their respective owners and their use is by permission from their owners. The toolbar is capable of displaying such features and many other similar features. We tested it and does the above, however, unless we receive exclusive permission to distribute those features, we can not do that. Doing so without permission, not only is against those organizations Terms Of Use (TOS), but they can alter their logarithm, calculations, Checksum etc...without us knowing. Once we receive clearances, we'll introduce such features.

- Does the Toolbar collects any information about me or my computer?

You are advised to read the Terms of Use and privacy, however, in a nutshell NO. The toolbar does not have any SpyWare or software that can undermine your privacy, apart from the normal cookies of web sites you visit or information that you voluntarily express to share with us, such as your registration information, login name, password for site access, nothing else other than the toolbar features that you'd know about (the toolbar remembers for example the last search term you used so you can use it again without typing...). If we want to implement some sort of statistics, whereby we need to gather information for marketing purposes like many of reputable toolbar distributors, we'll spell it out in the Terms of use as well as before installation, for now, we have none of that. The subject of privacy is a hot one and many people are refusing to install toolbars that are constantly collecting all sorts of data from you and your computer, although most is used for marketing purposes, it does nonetheless make those toolbars slower, crash and corrupt some systems besides the lack of control over what is being collected. Some toolbars can not provide certain features unless they collect information upon which those features depend, google and Alexa are a good example, those toolbars however, do explain exactly what information they need to collect.

Toolbar privacy has become one of the most debated subjects as  most of the large web sites and search engines started distributing their own. Perhaps the most feared amongst many is Industrial and Corporate Intelligence.  We all know many employees in large public and corporate organization can download or visit any site they wish despite internal regulations. Imagine installing a software that monitors your every move when you are an employee in a Dealing Room,  sensitive R&D department, a direct competitor to the site... Some online organizations are fundamentally dependant upon their SEO techniques and their income depends entirely upon their success in ranking well in Information Directories and Search Engines, many of the successful ones are now reluctant to let their employees install toolbars and other software that have to collect information. Their reasoning may or may not be well founded, but the hypothesis of search engines and directories monitor their habits and techniques for penalties and "Make or Break" those sites should not be discarded lightly.

- Can I or my company advertise on the Toolbar?

Unfortunately NO commercial Advertising is accepted unless some of or all the proceeds are proven to go to charity. Commercial sites and organizations wishing to advertise their products and services have to prove to us that the advertised products / services in question are sold with a portion of the proceeds going to charity, or prove their status to be as one of the below :

A registered Charity or a Humanitarian Organization

A non-profit organization (most of its activities are free and has only a small revenue to cover costs).

Public or Government Institution

A Commercial Organization that is known to donate a large portion of its profits to good causes or takes part in fund raising through its various channels.

Fees and Charges: For advertising purely for charitable causes is free, other forms may accrue a charge. This charge is to be donated to charity of our choice after operating costs. for information, email: editor@wi-fitechnology.com or toolbar@wi-fihotspotsdirectory.com

- Do I have to register the Toolbar while using?

No compulsory registration is required at the moment, however, we'll be providing a link in due course for you to either register before or during use. Other than the need of knowing who is using our toolbar to help when needed or for communicating new agreements and updates etc, we have no other needs for registration information.

- How about the Toolbar in my own language!

We are working on multi-lingual versions of the toolbar and would communicate the release once due to all registered members and onsite.

- Do you have a Toolbar for Mac and Linux or does this one works with Mac and Linux OSs?

This one is tested on Windows 98 up to Win XP and all windows versions seem to work OK. We do intend to develop OS and Browser specific versions soon.

- Does it update automatically or should I update it once in while?

The toolbar comes with automatic update once or twice a week. you can try to update any time you like, If you have the latest version, the toolbar will tell you there is no need for an update, or will update the toolbar in few seconds.

I can only see the default MSN search in the Sidebar Search, where is the toolbar one?

Recent versions of windows seem to come with the MSN sidebar search installed by default, however, you can customize which search engines to use. When you install the toolbar, it has its own version of the search engines, some of them with our own brand. To see the toolbar sidebar search, go to customize after pressing the SEARCH button on your IE toolbar on the top of your installed toolbar. Make sure search assistant radio button is ticked or similar. Refreshing the page or opening a new window may also do the trick. If that fails, emptying the Cache and History may help. Remember though that using our own side search / sidebar search, you are taking part in charitable causes even if you don't buy anything. You can also revert back to whatever side search you were using once you uninstall the toolbar.
